- Neon Indian - Hex Girlfriend
Garbled sounds of darkness reel you in for 15 seconds like you’re caught in a Tron-inspired aural landscape. And then, coming out from the storm, you’re thrown into colored turbulence.
“Does it make you, does it make you feel alright?”
Yes. Yes, it does. This album, Era Extrana, can single-handedly reinvigorate the awesome love and desire to listen to whole albums non-stop. Dim lighting, volume up, imagining visual waves moving with the sound. Like stars in the darkness of squeezed-shut eyes. If at least for 42 minutes.
“I know I won’t be here forever. Slow burn fades into a dream.”
- M83 - Intro (ft. Zola Jesus)
Lost in space, synth dots blinking like we’re floating in stars. This track completely sets the stage for the album, Hurry Up, We’re Dreaming. Two singers echoing each other, telling us to “Carry on.” Whispers like the poetry bridge from Graveyard Girl. This is everything I want in an M83 song.

- Modeselektor (ft. Thom Yorke) - This
Eccentric, engulfing, fluid, echo. Thom Yorke’s voice gets absorbed by electronic ambiance. Enjoy. Check out Modeselektor’s upcoming album, Monkeytown, out super-crazy-soon. Look for it!
